I don’t normally post very many images from senior portrait sessions but I wanted to post this one so I could prove a quick point. Sometimes it’s hard to explain how little the location matters when it comes to individual portraits. I wish I had a photo of the background to show you but it’s a hotel parking lot. Cars and some odd looking trees were the background. Nothing that would immediately scream “beautiful location for photos!”

Sometimes (a lot of the time) if you light the subject well and make the background work for you instead of against you….the location doesn’t matter.

I plan to illustrate this better in future posts but for now….here is Bo in a hotel parking lot.

Scott’s Senior Session

Scott is a 2010 senior in Hartselle, Alabama. Every time I photograph a high school senior I try to think back to when I was in their shoes. It’s getting harder and harder to do that! Thirteen years ago now.

Wow.

I need a nap.

Good luck in all you do Scott and have fun because one day you’ll turn around and boom….you’re 30…or in my case 31.
