Stuart’s Proposal to Rebecca – Huntsville, Alabama Wedding Photographer –

Congratulations to Stuart and Rebecca who will be getting married this weekend!

Last year Stuart called me and told me that he was planning on proposing to his girlfriend Rebecca and he wanted me to be there to document the occasion. I was excited about the opportunity but quite honestly was scared that I would somehow blow the surprise. The day before I went to The Cotton Row Restaurant where Stuart had made arrangements and talked to the manager and other staff to make sure I was aware of his plan. I even made sure I was dressed like the staff there so that I would blend in. However there was no black pants/black shirt combo that could hide the camera and bag I had with me.

I honestly think that 90% of the restaurant knew the proposal was coming. I had to ask people at the bar where I was sitting to stop staring so Rebecca wouldn’t be suspicious….as I covered up a huge pile of photo equipment with my coat.

Big congratulations go out today to my friends Jonathan and Megan! Right this very moment (if you are reading this on Saturday night) they are getting married! I had the pleasure of shooting some engagement photos of these guys a few months ago. Jonathan is a great guy and a fellow photographer. He also looks about 20 years younger than he actually is….it truly is some sort of miracle of science.

Last night I had the opportunity to photograph Melessa’s bridal session. That reminded me that I should probably get their engagement session on the blog!

Luke and Kristen – Engagement Session- Huntsville, Alabama Wedding Photographer -

When Anna and I got married we pretty much had it all together on the day of the ceremony. We had thought of everything….at least that’s what we thought. About 45 minutes before the start of everything I realized that I needed someone to stand backstage at The Princess Theatre and help picture mute a digital projector with a remote control. Luckily Kristen was there and offered to help! She stood backstage….wearing a headset…and communicated with the sound man who was starting and stopping videos. For someone like me….a geek and a perfectionist…it was a lifesaver!

Here is a photo that Cosby shot of Kristen just before our ceremony started….

So when I found out that Kristen and Luke were engaged I offered to stand backstage at her wedding if she wanted me to…..
Instead we decided that I would be better off photographing it.

These guys wanted their engagement photos shot at the historic Lowe Mill in Huntsville, Alabama. It’s such a great place!

It was Kristen’s idea to bring the big red balloon….I thought it turned out great!

Lowe Mill was built in 1900. The floors in some of the unfinished areas of the mill have 110 year old dirt. I appreciate them being willing to lay on that floor. :)

Mark and Shay - Huntsville, Alabama Wedding Photography –

Since I shoot the majority of my sessions outdoors I felt the need to call Mark and give him the option of postponing their engagement session a few weeks ago. I was more than willing to shoot but the temperature was in the mid twenties that day. But….Shay was going back to college and wouldn’t be back for a while….so we thought warm thoughts and headed out to shoot.

Mark and Shay had their love to keep them warm. Anna apparently kept our love….at home…inside….in Decatur.

This is a little observation point on Monte Sano Mountain in Huntsville, Alabama. This spot meant a lot to these two so we started off there. See how warm they look?

I really have to hand it to both of them but especially Shay….she faked “looking warm” extremely well.

Derek and Jessica’s Engagement SessionHuntsville, Alabama Portrait and Wedding Photographer

I first photographed Jessica and her two sisters way back in November of 2006. There was about a 25º wind chill that day. Eventually they started speaking to me again.

This time I was photographing Jessica with her fiance Derek downtown in Huntsville, Alabama. The weather was great this time but there was this nasty cloud of gnats that we kept having to fight with. This led me to the conclusion that nature hates Jessica.

The spot in this first picture is where Derek proposed to Jessica.

Considering my theory on Jessica and nature I was a little worried when I saw these geese flying overhead…..but luckily….they came and went without incident.

Josh and Amy Engagement SessionAthens, Alabama Wedding Photographer

Josh and Amy are cramming a lot into the next 9 months. They are finishing up pharmacy school….and getting married. That means in 9 months we can all call them and ask if it’s okay to take a Sudafed with with a Benadryl if we’re on an antibiotic. Come on admit it….we all do that to our pharmacist friends and family.

One thing that these two learned quickly is that when you are having your photo made in public people will slow their cars down and stare at you like you’ve got 3 heads. I have adopted “the wave method” to counter this oddity. When people stare….acknowledge and wave at them….it blows their mind.

Josh realized the public’s odd staring habit right about…….now (on left).

Josh was also advised on matters of love by a motorcycle gang as they stopped at a traffic light. Just imagine all of the good love advice you’ve ever been given and add the word “brother” at the end of it.
