Justin and Micah’s Four Year Anniversary Portraits – Decatur, Alabama Wedding Photographer

Our friends Justin and Micah recently celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary. Justin surprised Micah with a bridal/groom-al session. Big thanks to Diann Anderson with D’nani Makeup Studio in Huntsville, Alabama for doing Micah’s makeup. Justin did his own. :)

The image below didn’t jump out at me during my initial edit but during my final one it quickly became one of my favorite images from the evening.

Jessica’s Decatur, Alabama Bridal Session

It was July….July! How long ago does that seem? Anyway…it was back in July when Jessica came to Decatur along with her bridal entourage for me to shoot her bridal portraits. The location was perfect but given the temps in the 90s outside…it was brutal inside. I’m glad fall is finally here.

There were many great ones but here are just a few of my favorites.

Jessica and Hunter’s wedding was last month so I will be posting those images in March. Okay seriously…I’ll post those soon!

Amy’s Decatur, Alabama Bridal Session

There is a lumber yard between my house and where we attend church. Every time I pass it I stare at the large stack of logs waiting to be cut and think how cool it would be to photograph someone in front of them. Amy had a great location set up in a sunflower field for us to shoot her bridal portraits but the timing didn’t work out for them to be in bloom so I finally got to mark this portrait location off my list. Big thanks to the kind folks at Littrell Lumber Mill in Decatur, Alabama. Not only were they nice enough to let me shoot there but a couple of guys stopped two separate times to see if I needed them to do anything to help. It could have had something to do with a pretty bride standing in the middle of the street but they were very nice and helpful nonetheless!

Amy and Josh were married a couple of weeks ago so I can finally post these images.

Our second location was a field near some of our relatives…..we shot right through sunset and wound up with the image that Amy had printed to display at her reception.

Her reception print was very similar to the image below…except it was a vertical.

Melessa’s Decatur, Alabama Bridal Session

Bridal sessions are one of my favorite things to photograph. Wedding days are fun but they are scheduled fun. You rarely have as much time as you would like. That’s not as much the case with a bridal session. Besides the brutal Alabama heat or the clockwork afternoon thundershowers around here we usually aren’t terribly rushed when it comes to these.

I’ve known Melessa for a long time. When you grow up in a town the size of Athens, Alabama there are a lot of people that you have “known for a long time” but nevertheless it always helps when my clients know me and trust me.

Special thanks to Scott at Willis Gray for helping us out with the bouquet….it was perfect!

Shots like this one won’t necessarily make the final cut in a bridal session because they don’t show the dress….but I love it anyway.

I had this next image printed as a 20×30 gallery wrap canvas for my studio before Melessa had even picked her favorite to be printed! This wound up being her favorite too.

It looks even better hanging on the studio wall without my head sticking out of the top of it…..and how ’bout that iPhone image quality?

We shot this last image as a rain storm set in….we rushed the bride back inside and we were finished!

Mobile Bay Bride-Bridal IssueAlabama Wedding Photographer

Back in the Fall of last year Anna and I drove to Mobile, Alabama to shoot a spread of images for the 2010 issue of Mobile Bay Bride which is Mobile Bay Magazine’s annual publication. That issue has finally made it to news stands so I can show it to you here!

Cilla’s Bridal – David Higginbotham – Huntsville, Alabama Wedding Photographer

Congratulations to Ryan and Cilla on their beautiful ceremony tonight at The Huntsville Roundhouse Depot! Back in August I shot her bridal portraits and had to hold off on publishing them until the wedding! Since Ryan has now gotten to see the dress…the rest of you can too!

Congratulations you two!!! I’ll post some wedding images soon!
