When I first started blogging I made the decision to blog everything. So unless I have accidentally overlooked you….all of you since I started my old blog in April of 2006 should have had a blog post dedicated to you. However a month or so ago I decided that I would begin blogging a little more selectively. For no other reason than I want to use my blog to grow the parts of my business I would like to grow. That being said…if you are one of my current or future clients and you want to make sure your images are here on the blog please tell me and I will be happy to post them for you!!
Now that I said that….let me contradict myself for a second. A friend contacted me several weeks ago and wanted to surprise her husband with a large portrait of their lovable chocolate lab Gracie. Now I’m not necessarily looking to add “dog photographer” to my list of specialties (thus the contradiction) but I do enjoy photographing them! I love the image that she settled on so much that I just really wanted to share it here. We had this printed on a 24″x36″ gallery wrap canvas. It was beautiful!

Her name is Gracie but from time to time they call her “Gracie Earl”. I’m not sure if that’s her AKA registered name or just her street name…but it’s pretty funny either way.
This was shot with a 70-200 f2.8 lens while lying completely flat to the ground there in the corn field. I had a strobe mounted on a stand at about 45 degrees camera left that provided just a tad of fill light since it was overcast. Besides some retouching work to remove some cornstalks that were intersecting with the pup everything else was done in camera. Ducks Unlimited….you guys paying attention to this little lady? Maybe I should start a dog modeling agency on the side.
